Event Settings
Edit GA4 events for Funnel Analysis and Conversion Path Analysis. View 30-day counts, sync daily or manually, and reconnect when authorization expires.
Author: Cascade
Event Settings lets you give events imported from GA4 (Google Analytics 4) clear names and descriptions, and choose which events to use in Funnel Analysis and Conversion Path Analysis. Newly tracked GA4 events are imported automatically every day. You can also import them immediately with Sync. Open Analysis > Site Analysis in the left menu, then open the Event Settings card.

Column | Details |
|---|---|
Event Name | The name displayed in Cascade (editable) |
Event Content | A description of what is measured (editable) |
Event Used | On or off to control whether the event is used in Cascade analysis |

Last Updated / Updated By | The date and person who last changed the settings. Automatically added events show Auto-added. |
Use the search field above the list to filter by text in Event Name, GA4 Event Name, or Event Content. You can use the same field whether you know only the English name in GA4 or remember only the display name you changed to Japanese.
Steps
1. Open Event Settings from Site Analysis
Open Analysis > Site Analysis in the left menu and select the Event Settings card.
2. Select a GA4 account
If you have 2 or more GA4 connections, use the selector at the top of the screen to switch properties. The selector does not appear if you have only 1 connection.
3. Edit event names and descriptions

Click an Event Name or Event Content cell to edit it directly. Confirm your entry to save it. The message "Event setting has been updated." appears. Event names cannot be empty.
4. Toggle Event Used
Turn on Event Used for events you want to use in analysis. Only enabled events appear as options in Funnel Analysis and Conversion Path Analysis.
You cannot turn off session_start.
You cannot make a change that leaves fewer than 2 events enabled.
5. Import new events (Sync)
The GA4 event list is imported again automatically every day. When GA4 starts tracking a new event, it is added to this list the next day or later. To import it immediately, click Sync at the top of the screen. The last sync date and time appear near the button (Not synced if it has never run). When the sync finishes, the number of events added is displayed.
When event settings already exist, newly added events have Event Used turned off. Turn it on for events you want to use.
On the first sync after connecting, when no event settings exist, events GA4 collects automatically, such as page_view and scroll, are generally off. Other events are on. If fewer than 2 events are on, automatically collected events are enabled in order of frequency until 2 events are on.
The same event is never added twice. Even if a sync does not finish within the time limit, events added before it stops remain in the list. Syncing again does not create duplicates.
If an import fails
If an import from GA4 fails, a warning appears above the list. The solution depends on the cause, so follow the displayed instructions.
If authorization has expired — Click Reconnect in the warning. Authorize with a Google account that can access this property, then confirm the connection shown. The connection and event settings are preserved. Owners and Admins can reconnect. Members with other roles see the message "Ask an owner or admin to reconnect this connection."
If the property cannot be accessed — The connected Google account no longer has permission to access the property. Restore its permissions in GA4 to resume imports. Reconnecting can also resolve this, but it cannot fix a deleted property.
Disconnecting also deletes that connection's event settings (display names, event descriptions, and the Event Used on/off settings). This cannot be undone. If you only need to fix authorization, reconnect without disconnecting.
Example event names
GA4's standard event names are in English. You can change them to Japanese names that are easier for your operations team to understand and manage.
GA4 Event Name | Example display name |
|---|---|
purchase | Order created |
begin_checkout | Checkout started |
add_to_cart | Add to cart |
sign_up | Sign up |
generate_lead | Lead generation |
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
An event you want to use is missing from the list | The event has not occurred recently in GA4, or it is not yet available in GA4. | Check that the event is occurring in GA4, then click Sync. Also check the connected property. |
Only some events appear in the list | The search field contains text. | Clear the search field. |
Cannot turn off Event Used | The event is session_start, or turning it off would leave fewer than 2 events enabled. | Turn on another event before making the change. |
The event count shows "—" | The event count could not be retrieved from GA4. | Wait and reload the screen. If a warning about expired authorization or permissions appears, follow its instructions. |
The message "There is too much GA4 data to load all event counts within the time limit" appears | The property has a large amount of data. | Wait and reload the screen. This does not affect your ability to change settings. |
