Set per-product gross margins in Catalog
View product IDs, sales, and units sold by period. Set gross margins for Amazon target ACoS calculations and propose and approve A+ Content.
Author: Cascade
Catalog lets you view products from your connected EC stores and set a gross margin (%) for each product. Ad Optimization uses the gross margin to calculate bid targets (Target ROAS / Target CPA and Target ACoS) for campaigns that advertise the product. Products without a per-product setting use the default gross margin set in Ad Optimization. If Amazon Sales is connected, you can also create, edit, and approve Amazon A+ Content proposals on the A+ Content tab.
Open EC > Catalog from the left menu. The screen has 2 tabs: Items and A+ Content (A+ Content appears only when Amazon Sales is connected).

Understanding the Items screen
Item | Description |

Period | Select the period at the top right of the screen. The default is the most recent 30 days through yesterday. You can select a range going back 90 days from today (today's data is not included). |
Count | Shows the number of products and the date range, such as "120 items (2026/08/10–2026/09/08)". If there are many products, up to the top 500 by sales are shown. |
Product | The product name. If the name has not been retrieved, "(name not available)" appears. |
Product ID | The store's product identifier (ASIN, Item Number, Item Code, or Item ID) |
Sales / Units Sold | Sales revenue (in the store's currency) and units sold during the period. Click a column heading to sort (the default is highest sales first). |
Gross Margin (%) | The gross margin for each product. Visible only to users with the Owner or Admin role. |
The list shows 25 rows per page. Use the page numbers at the bottom to switch pages. Search and filtering are not available.
Steps to set gross margins
Gross margin is "(revenue - cost of goods) / revenue" expressed as a percentage. Enter the value before deducting ad spend.
1. Set the margin for 1 product at a time
Click the Gross Margin (%) cell for the product and enter a value greater than 0 and no more than 100 (decimals are allowed).
Press Enter or click outside the cell to save. The message "Gross margin saved" appears. Press Esc to cancel your entry.
For a product with a margin set, click × (Use default) at the right edge of the cell to remove the per-product setting. The message "Item gross margin removed" appears, and the default gross margin is used from then on.
For products without a per-product setting, the default gross margin appears in faint text, such as "Default 40%". If no default gross margin is set either, Not set appears. If you enter a value outside the allowed range, the message "Enter a value greater than 0 and up to 100" appears.
2. Set margins for multiple products at once

Select the checkbox for each product you want to update. A bar appears at the top showing a count such as "3 selected".
Click Set gross margin, enter the margin in the dialog, and click Apply. Existing per-product settings are overwritten.
When the message "Gross margin applied to the selected items" appears, you are done.
You can set margins for up to 500 products at once. Switching stores or periods clears your selection. The applied margins are used to automatically calculate bid targets starting the next day. The calculated targets are automatically applied to the ad platform.
3. Understand how the default gross margin is used
The gross margin is determined in the following order.
The per-product gross margin set in Catalog
The default gross margin entered under Settings in the Bid Target Auto-Calculation card in Ad Optimization
Products with neither setting are excluded from automatic bid target calculation
Per-product gross margins are used by Amazon Sponsored Products campaigns with Target ACoS set to Automatic from gross margin (using margins set on the Amazon Sales tab). Cascade calculates Target ACoS daily based on each product's share of sales and gross margin for products advertised in the campaign over the most recent 30 days. It uses the result to optimize bids daily and placement bid adjustments weekly. For setup instructions, see Automatically optimize Amazon Ads bids and delivery schedules.
On store tabs other than Amazon Sales, the message "Gross margins for this store are not used by optimization yet." appears above the list (visible to users with the Owner or Admin role). Your entries are saved and are used once an optimization that reads that store's gross margins becomes available.
A+ Content (Amazon Sales)

The A+ Content tab lists A+ Content documents registered on Amazon. You can edit and approve AI-generated proposals to apply them to Amazon. Approved content is submitted to Amazon from Cascade.
Column | Description |
|---|---|
Name | The A+ Content document name |
Status | The publication status on Amazon |
ASINs | The ASINs the document applies to |
Updated | The date and time of the last update |
Proposal | Whether a proposal exists for the document and its status |
Actions | Create a proposal, Propose a replacement, Edit, Review proposal, History, Suspended, Roll back, View content, View on Amazon |
1. Create a proposal
Click Create a proposal (or Propose a replacement for an existing document). AI uses the product information to create a headline, 4 features, and a specification table. Proposal creation has a daily limit, shown on the screen as "Up to X proposals per day".
2. Edit the content
Click Edit to revise the headline, body, and specification table. Select images from Creative > Library (the asset library).
3. Approve and apply
When a user with the Owner or Admin role approves a proposal through Review proposal, Cascade submits it to Amazon. Rejected proposals are not applied. If Amazon sends the content back during review, the reason appears under Recent changes.
4. Suspend publication or roll back
Click Suspended to stop publication on Amazon, or Roll back to restore the previous content. View the change history under Recent changes in History (creation, replacement, restoration, or suspension).
Usage notes
Gross margin settings are saved only in Cascade. They are not written to the EC store.
Values saved by other Admins on the same screen automatically appear in the list.
Bulk CSV import is not supported.
For Amazon Sales, if a very large number of products sell in a day, the message "Sales are estimates because the number of products exceeded the storage limit on some days." may appear. This does not affect gross margin settings.
Approving A+ Content changes the listing information on Amazon. Always review the content before applying it.
Troubleshooting
Display | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
"No Supported Store Integration" | No EC store is connected | Click Set Up Integrations to open Settings > Integrations and connect an EC store. |
"Preparing item data" | The store was just connected and order data has not finished syncing, or the selected period is outside the 90-day retention period. | The sync runs automatically once a day (today's data appears from the next day). Rakuten Ichiba starts importing the most recent 90 days of data immediately after connection. Data appears within a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the number of orders. |
"Gross margins for this store are not used by optimization yet." | No optimization uses per-product gross margins for this store yet (currently, only Amazon Sales is supported). | Your settings are saved and are used as compatible optimizations become available. No action is needed. |
"The store connection has expired" | The store's authentication is no longer valid | Click Go to Integrations and reconnect the store. |
"Failed to load the item list" | A temporary communication error with the store | Click Retry. If the issue persists, wait and try again. |
"No items found." | No products have sales during the selected period | Expand the period and check again. |
The gross margin column or checkboxes do not appear | You are logged in with the Editor or Viewer role | Only users with the Owner or Admin role can view and edit gross margins. |
The A+ Content tab does not appear | Amazon Sales is not connected | Connect Amazon Sales under Settings > Integrations. |
