"I've Come to Love Making Ad Creative" — How Buddy Cloud's CEO Runs Ads on Four Platforms Single-Handedly

Buddy Cloud case study interview

Before

Shun Fujii, CEO of Buddy Cloud Inc., looks back on Cascade this way:

"Lately, I genuinely love making ad creative."

—— Fujii

Buddy Cloud runs a comprehensive e-commerce platform for pets. Its catalog, sourced from around the world, includes products it holds exclusive rights to sell, and the company also offers online veterinary consultations and testing services — a genuinely unique buying experience. Fujii, who comes from a marketing background, runs the company's advertising personally while serving as CEO, single-handedly managing four platforms including Instagram and Amazon. No specialist team — the CEO faces the ad numbers directly. That is what makes this story distinctive.

We asked Fujii about the challenges before Cascade, and what changed after.

Ad platforms

4 platforms, including Instagram and Amazon

Team

Run single-handedly by CEO Fujii

Main features used

Slack notifications / ad creative generation (image generation) / e-commerce analytics

Key points

  • Challenge: Checking how four platforms — including Instagram and Amazon — were doing meant comparing each one every day, a huge task. Seeing everything in one place daily and deciding how to compete lacked the speed it needed.

  • Deciding factors: Slack notifications show conversions and CPA, and anything interesting is one step from the full details in the platform — a seamless flow. Fast support responses meant no pre-adoption anxiety.

  • Results: Operational efficiency rose, holding down the labor cost of running ads. CPA came under control, and sales are trending up.

Reconciling four platforms' numbers daily — the problem of unified visibility and speed

We started by asking Fujii — a CEO who runs advertising personally — about Buddy Cloud's business and ad operations.

―― First, tell us about Buddy Cloud's business.

Fujii: We run a comprehensive e-commerce platform for pets. We source products from around the world, and for some of them we hold exclusive distribution rights. We also offer online veterinary consultations and testing services — including those, I think we deliver a genuinely unique buying experience.

Offering this breadth of buying experience in the pet space is what sets Buddy Cloud apart.

―― How do you handle ad operations?

Fujii: I run them myself, alone. We use four platforms, including Instagram and Amazon. We don't have a dedicated ad manager, so as CEO I look at the ad numbers directly.

Watching four platforms alone was never an easy job, Fujii says.

―― Specifically, what felt burdensome?

Fujii: For each platform I had to check where things stood and compare them, platform by platform, every day. That was an enormous task.

―― Beyond the comparison work itself, were there other challenges?

Fujii: Seeing everything in one place daily, comparing, and deciding how to compete — that pace was simply missing.

Why Cascade — seamless from Slack notification to full detail

So what made Fujii choose Cascade? The clincher, he says, was the flow itself — how quickly you get from notification to the numbers that matter.

―― Why did you choose Cascade?

Fujii: A notification arrives in Slack and I can see how many conversions came in and where CPA stands. If something catches my eye, I go to the platform and look at the details. That whole flow being seamless is what I like.

―― How was the support side of onboarding?

Fujii: The support has been superb — replies come extremely fast.

He had no particular concerns before adopting it, either. For someone running ads alone, having a reliable point of contact clearly meant a lot.

Favorite features — image generation and e-commerce analytics

Among all the features, the ones Fujii likes best are ad creative generation and e-commerce analytics.

―― Which feature do you like most?

Fujii: The image generation for ad creative. Lately, I genuinely love making ad creative.

With pets as the product category, creative that conveys the appeal of products and animals through photos carries real weight — which seems to be part of why Fujii loves this feature. (We cover e-commerce ad management in more detail in our article on e-commerce advertising.) For someone running everything alone, coming to enjoy the creative-production step itself is no small change.

―― Any other features you rely on?

Fujii: The e-commerce analytics feature is also very handy.

Seeing ad numbers and e-commerce analytics side by side also seems to reinforce his daily decisions.

Results — efficiency and CPA control

How did Fujii's way of operating change after adopting Cascade?

―― What changed operationally after adoption?

Fujii: Efficiency went up, which holds down the labor — the workload cost — of running ads. And since adopting it, CPA has come under control.

―― And on the sales side?

Fujii: Sales are up as well.

Being able to operate with a unified view of numbers across platforms underpins these changes.

For companies considering in-house ad management

―― What kind of company do you think Cascade suits?

Fujii: It's especially suited to companies with limited resources, and companies that want to run marketing themselves. I'd also recommend it to D2C companies selling physical products through e-commerce.

―― What would you say to companies that leave their ads to an agency?

Fujii: If your ads aren't really running in-house — if it's all left to an agency and you can't see inside — I'd encourage you to take a look.

"Connect your platforms, and it handles everything from optimization to creative generation automatically. I think this is the next generation of marketing."
